Years ago working for a major University, I brought my own notebook computer in as my main computer rather than use the slower one provided by them at the time. Out of several thousand employees, I was alone in using my own PC for work. I was able to take my work with me wherever I traveled. While that was almost 20 years ago now, BYOD, or bring your own device isn’t as much an anomaly as it was then with employees using their own smartphones, tablets, and even laptops for work, possibly exposing the network and private information to hackers as never before.
